You may very well be assured by the publication time of the post the results were not declared but at the same time be well assured that trends would have given the whole picture due to come out.
UPA (Cong + pre-poll alliances) are ahead and may not be able to get the required 272 but will have an comfortable position above 235+.
A thought just ran through me what prompted the Indians to give such an verdict this time and what are the challenges for the forthcoming govt..with most probably Mr. Singh as again PM.
As is evident all the parties who have in the recent past have just created nuisance and caused trouble to public have been beaten down drastically by public. Eg.
1. CPM - In west Bengal had been ruling for past 30 years but if you see the living conditions of kolkata or the development of the city or take any any district within the state or take for sake any incident , the state govt had always seem to incompetent to serve, take Singur or Nandigram, either it had forcefully tried to take situation in control or was not able to take anything. And the same synergies made the party to be beaten down in kerala too.
2. Mayawati's BSP - can anyone just pick out anything that had been done constructive by her, always tried to get support from the less educated poor and dalits by way of cheap politics of differentiation, creating news for herself by bring doen states, troubling businessman unnecessarily, numerous self interested acts and so on.....how much had the people suffered and the verdict is clear...either do constructive politics or be ready to be wiped out.
3. Lalu's RJD - do i need to say anything?...more than party's own acts n recent time it's the party's poor performance in past when i ran the state for numerous years that have acted as an incentive for masses to go against it. Full credit to Nitish's govt for strongly ruling the state and if not drastic at least improving the administration of state and have been rewarded in form of seat's by masses.
Now that the cry of UPA that due to multiple party forming the govt it does not have enough options to go ahead and take strong decisions for country despite it's willingness and commitment to do so has been heard by the masses and have been given a chance to show what all it is willing and can do. So in the near term the govt needs to prove few things to masses to assure that they have made the correct decision, those are:
1. JOB JOB and JOBS - As promised by Mr. M. Singh that given an chance he will revive the economy in 100 days.I can go flat and say that's impossible and non-achieveable by anyone at present. The reason being first of all the statement is an open statement what does he actually mean by reviving the economy?..is it creating as many job as was a year back?..or bringing the SANSEX to 21,000 level again?..or does it mean does it mean putting the growth of Indian economy on a positive track?
Given it's impossible is it that the voters will be disappointed with the govt in first 100 days only?...NO since they also know the truth and capability of an govt and an person but they Will certainly look for positive steps taken by govt towards achieving an revival of demand and putting the economy on gaining track and that would be evident by sound decisions/policies and their outcome....it may well be much more than 100 days!!
2. Pakisthan and Terrorism - Given the no results of not so strong efforts of govt for strong actions against masterminds of 26/11 attacks n Mumbai, it would be not long enough when people would be storming their thoughts as to what did the govt did after being voted to power on this issue and if i am right the questions will start arising well before even it's 100 days of govt. Very personally i feel the Chitambaram's trailing in his constituency be as well outcome/reward for this lack of policy, since he was no more than a different body behind the same Home ministrial policy.
Given the turbulent times in Pakistan and rise of Talibanese forces out there...times and things are going to be more difficult for govt. to come.
3. Love, Lust n Power - Antique things never lose attraction and so does the politics. Despite Congress being able to get few strong partners together to form govt pleasing them is going to a big and difficult task since each one will long for as strong an portfolio as strong is their percentage in forming majority and always the fight has been for most attractive ministries like home, railways etc. it would be interesting to watch how exactly it is manged. This coupled with active interest taken and being watched carefully by voters will definitely get more scrutiny and criticism for loopholes. To keep a strong and positive outlook among voter UPA needs to allocate portfolio's according to individuals capabilities proven or in potential with minimal compromise and not no compromise since that impossible!!.
In short i have tried to summarise what i thought was prudent and evident enough. looking for all sorts of feedback and opinion on matter. Let me clarify it's totally an personnel observation and opinion.
